Walking in the Light

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

From a young age the devil attacked me with sexual perversion and a lustful spirit. At the age of six or seven, I had a sexual encounter with another boy that deeply impacted me. By the mercy of God, that was brought into the light early on. Then at the age of eight, I found myself watching pornography. That continued on and off for years without me ever telling anyone about it. The devil was slowly warping my perspective of myself and those around me. Because it wasn’t brought into the light, it festered and became a dark, dark place where confusion and shame became my close companions. I was becoming more of a “predator” in my spirit instead of a “protector.” Thankfully, the secrets started slowly coming out when I was 12. Then at the age of 18, Jesus met me in a way I had never experienced. The Word says, “God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all.”

When I met Jesus I also met Light. Through spending time with Him, He slowly began to pull all the junk out of my soul, and though much of that was a painful process, I’m freer now than I have ever been before. I know that I am a SON OF GOD who WALKS IN THE LIGHT with my King.

Even when reading this, if something feels agitated in your being, it means the Holy Spirit wants to free you from darkness. Don’t stay in the darkness. Walk into the Light. Walk into Jesus!
