I grew up looking for love and attention from men. I knew about God but didn't know He was alive and that He had all I needed. I had boyfriends from a young age because that was where I found my identity.
I was 15 when I started down the road that led to partying, alcohol, drugs, immoral sexual relationships, abortion, and rape. What caused me to choose substance abuse and to "look for love in all the wrong places?"
Growing up, I was sometimes very naive (what kid isn’t) and was often oblivious to my surroundings (again, what kid isn’t). I had these guy friends that I would always hang out with.

There is a frontal assault against God’s gift of sexuality that originated in the boardroom of hell. Without much effort, you can observe it in the culture. It affects everything. Things once clearly defined have now become clouded and are under fire. Who thought up the idea of sex? Did God design it? What does God’s gift of sexuality entail?
According to the teachings of Scripture, marriage is the place where there can be an unashamed amount of attraction that gets you tipsy, that then leads to sexual intimacy in the privacy of your relationship. It is celebrated and encouraged, and the Bible clearly says that "the marriage bed is undefiled".
God designed men to take risks—to be watchmen, guardians, and defenders who are willing to fight for and protect those they care for. They are designed to do what is right instead of what is easy.
Being with Juliette is just as important and powerful as me praying for her in my prayer closet or worshipping for her in the front of the church. My time with her fills her heart with her true identity as a beloved daughter.
The lesson of singleness is learning that there are some needs in your life that only God can meet—needs that even your future spouse God may give you cannot meet.
Early on in our marriage, I had a terrible fear that was actually quite rational. I was afraid I would get pregnant! I felt so inadequate and certain I would be a terrible mother.

In John 14: 3 Jesus told us, I go and prepare a place for you…that where I am, there you may be also. What a great picture of motherhood! Jesus didn’t go to prepare a special place for us and then leave a note on the counter saying, “I hope you enjoy your stay. See you later!”

Jim Anderson, author of Unmasked, and his wife, Lisa, initially founded Sexuality Unmasked (formerly Lifeline Ministries) in 1990 to help the church deal with the issue of abortion. It soon evolved into a worldwide ministry of truth, healing, and restoration regarding sexuality. They have eight children and a growing number of delightful grandchildren. They live in Spokane, Washington.
Gert Roet and his wife, Molly, most recently served with All Nations—a disciple-making, church-planting ministry—in South Africa and Nepal. They carry the message of Unmasked in their hearts and readily share their passion for freedom and purity. They have six children and currently reside in Spokane, Washington, where they serve on staff with Sexuality Unmasked.
